Have You Seen My Mojo??

I’ve lost my mojo… my exercise mojo that is. Winking smile  I use to be so good at always hitting the gym after work or getting on the treadmill when I got home.  Lately I have been just coasting by, exercising here and there, but nothing consistent.  I have a 1/2 marathon (my first) on June 5th and to be honest with you, (I mean I can be honest here, right?) I have not trained like I should.  At this point I will be happy to just finish, and I can accept that.  You get out of a race what you put in it.  So I will just have fun with this one, do my best, and chalk this up as a learning experience.

With that being said, today I declared that I was going to get my mojo back!  Well, again to be honest (I do consider this my safe place), I say this a lot.  But, what I love about new days are the opportunities to be blessed enough to be given another chance to do better and be better! Smile  It is never too late to try harder and give it another shot.

So that is what I did.  Now I almost failed again because I was supposed to meet a friend for Bikram Yoga, and when she had to cancel I almost lost my motivation to work out on my own.  Workout partners are absolutely the best, but I guess this was a lesson that we shouldn’t necessarily use them as a crutch.

So I got my act together quickly and decided to go online to find a workout I could do at home.  I have always loved the Tone It Up girls and their workouts are always awesome!

Whew!  I chose their Beach Babe Workout and it kicked my boo-tay.

Most of their workouts are circuit style.  They had me doing frog jumps (jumping squats), side lunges, push-ups, high knees, and waistline crunches… circuit repeated 3x.  It was only about 10-13 minutes but it sure had me out of breath.  This is a great way you can sneak in some exercise when you are pressed for time but still want to sweat it out.

After my quick workout, and a shower, I had some errands to run so I had to grab a snack to-go and eat in the car.

And… since I was good and worked out for all of 10 minutes, lol, I decided to treat myself to Starbucks after shopping around in Target.  I have been eyeing their new Mocha Coconut Frappuccino for awhile now.

My exercise goals for this week will be to:

  • Do a quickie workout (like the Beach Babe workout) to start my morning everyday this week.
  • Run at least 3x this week after work.
  • If I do not run, end my night with a quickie yoga workout (I have another site to share that is awesome for yoga)
  • Take BodyCombat (cardio kickboxing) on Thursday at my gym (if I can get off work in time).

If I can do these things I am sure I can jump start my body back into craving workouts… and once again have my mojo flowing!

I will need all the mojo I can get because I also have the Warrior Dash coming up this Sunday… 3.1 miles of obstacles through lots and lots of mud!  I am still on the lookout for some awesome costumes.  I looked at pictures from last year’s event and some of the costumes (which are optional) were so freakin hilarious.  I think it will be so fun to dress up and get muddy… but I’m a dork like that. Just kidding

Weekend Wrap Up

Thank you all for all the Happy Mother’s Day wishes!  I had such a great weekend, very relaxing.

I did end up making it to the gym on Saturday before the gym’s kidzclub closed.  I had an hour to work out, so I knocked out 4 miles on the treadmill doing intervals while watching a movie (The Switch with Jennifer Aniston was playing) in the gym’s cardio theatre.  Cute movie.  I was very proud of myself 🙂

Then we were off to go pick up my mother’s Mother’s Day gift from my daughter.  The week before I took her to Color Me Mine to paint her a coffee mug and it was ready to be picked up… I forgot to take a pic of it 😦

Do you have a Color Me Mine, it is the most awesome place.  They have hundreds of ceramic pieces you can choose from, and  you get to paint it however you like.  They have a huge variety of paint colors, brushes, and stencils to make your creation great.  It was sooo adorable and my mother really loved it!

Saturday night I decided to try and make Raw Brownies with Chocolate Icing of Pure Amazingness.  I have been holding onto this recipe from Wayfaring Chocolate and it did not disappoint!  I stuck to her recipe and followed it exactly.

The ingredient list was pretty simple and I already had them on hand:

  • Walnuts
  • Medjool dates
  • Cocoa powder
  • Avocado
  • Agave
  • Vanilla extract
  • Salt
  • Cinnamon

These were soooo tasty and totally satisfied my sweet tooth, without the guilt 🙂    The base of the brownie is basically dates, walnuts and cocoa poweder… seen here about to go for a whirl in my handy dandy food processor.

The remaining ingridients, along with more cocoa powder is used to creat the AWESOME icing.  I recommend that you try these immediately.  I even had the BF try them and they got his stamp of approval, which is a very hard thing to do.

Sunday (Mother’s Day) we went to my Aunt’s house in the morning for Brunch and then to my mother’s house later for dinner.  It was really laid back and we all just got to enjoy each other’s company… my kind of weekend!

And look what I got for Mother’s Day… Score!  I love waffles and have been wanting a belgium waffle maker for awhile now.

 

I also received a subscription to Whole Living magazine from my cousin… she knows me so well 🙂

Today (Monday) was back to work and back to reality.  I was determined to get in some sort of exercise when I got home… and I did!  I knocked out 3.5 miles on the treadmill doing intervals while catching up on some shows I DVR’d last night.  Khloe and Lamar & The Dance Scene were my shows of choice today… I am really a reality junkie, please help! lol.

Oh and exciting news to end the night…  I found another bike event to do next month.  This one will be a 36 miler through 4 scenic parks located in Baltimore, MD.  It is called Tour dem Parks, Hon!… I love the name!

This will be one week after my half marathon, I am thinking it will actually be a good thing for my legs.  I heart my bike 😉

Well GFF’s, I am off to pack my gym bag in hopes that I go to BodyPump tomorrow after work.  I really need get in  as much weights as I can before my upcoming Warrior Dash in 2 weeks… I am excited and nervous at the same time!
